Measure Champs
Measure Champs is a 4 month catch, measure and release tournament with awards for the longest fish (1st to 3rd) in selected species, towards measure champs of the summer.
The competition is open to all club financial members and runs from 1 November 2024 to 28 Feb 2025.
Fishing Classes: Senior, Junior
- Juniors Age: 5 – 17 (16 and under as at 1 July 2024)
- Seniors (Men’s and Ladies Division is combined)
Species: SNAPPER, KAHAWAI, KINGFISH, GURNARD, TREVALLY AND TROUT (RAINBOW OR BROWN)
Operations:
- Entrants must be a paid up financial member of WSFC to be eligible for any prizes on offer.
- Entrants must download the NZSFC tournaments application and use the WSFC app to records all catches.
- Each entry must be photographed using the app with the fish on a commercially available measure mat clearly showing length. (Standard measure rules apply from nose to v of the tail) Measurement is to closest 0.5cms. E.g a 48.8cm snapper would be rounded down to 48.5cms.
- Your current WSFC Membership card must also be included in the photo. If you are a financial member and your card is yet to arrive please write your name and membership number on cardboard and include in the photo.
- Note that an individual angler can only win one prize per species regardless if they are 1st 2nd and 3rd in that species. They will take the highest prize per species if that is the case.
- WSFC will report and celebrate the winners at a major prizegiving club night in March 2025.
- Winners will be promoted on all WSFC media sites and appropriate sponsor sites when applicable.
Scoring System
- 1 point per CM for the longest fish caught for each species. (You can register as many fish as you like during the champs. Only the longest fish per angler will receive points)
- For any secret measurement prizes, your entries will be averaged and that one average used in that draw.
- There will be average/mystery weight cash draws in the Seniors/Juniors divisions totaling $500 cash in total. (10 X $50) where you will need to be present at prizegiving to collect if drawn, otherwise these will be re drawn.
Rules
Fishing parameters
- Fish must be caught on a hand line or rod and reel
- Fish must meet minimum recreation catch length per species as approved by NZ Government
- Photograph of the fish on a commercial measure mat with head board must be uploaded in the app.
- If the photograph does not show the full length of the fish, an uncreased measure mat and clear measurement the entry will be disqualified. Photos can only be entered once. All winning entries will be reviewed any eligibility decision made by tournament will be final.
- No nets
- No Contiki’s
- No grenades
- If unsure of catch eligibility refer to rule number 1
Entry Fee: $20 Senior and $10 Junior and must be a WSFC Financial member paid by end of business 30 November 24.
There is no need to register for the event simply pay your entry fees direct to WSFC 03 0314 0250512 00 BEFORE fishing for the tournament.
